George is buying watermelon and pineapples to make fruit salad. He buys w watermelon at 4.49 each and p pineapples at $5 each. What does the expression 4.49w+ 5p represents?

4.49 represents the price that you have to pay for each watermelon.W represents watermelons.5 represents the Price you have to pay for each pineapple. P represents pineapples. And if you add 4.49w and 5p together you get the price you have to pay.Hope that was helpful.

W represents the number of watermelons bought
P represents the number pineapples bought

The expression shows the total cost of both of fruits bought. If $4.49 is the cost for one watermelon, and $5 is the cost of one pineapple, the equation to find the cost becomes

Let y be the total cost;

y=$4.49w+$5p
