The x value is 1/2, or 0.5

Just use the midpoint formula
(x2+x1)/2 , (y2+y1)/2

to find the midpoint. The x value would be (x2+x1)/2, so plug in the numbers.
(-2+3)/2 = 1/2

Answer:

\text{The x value for the point that splits segment CD in half is }(1)/(2)

Explanation:

Given two points C(-2,4) and D(3, 7)

we have to find the value of x-coordinate for the point that splits segment CD in half.

By mid-point formula,

The coordinate of mid-point of line segment joining the points (a,b) and (c,d) are
((a+c)/(2), (b+d)/(2))

Coordinates of mid-point joining the points C(-2,4) and D(3, 7)

((-2+3)/(2),(4+7)/(2))

((1)/(2),(11)/(2))

\text{The x value for the point that splits segment CD in half is }(1)/(2)
