I would say the answer was B because a comma doesn't always mean a pause or hesitation. Commas are usually used to break apart long sentences so it doesn't seem like endless words until the period. Think of it as a way to stop the sentence from running together or a way to stop the sentence from losing clarity.  Hope that helps you!
