A popular chain of superstores made 3.0479×108 dollars in profit last year. One particular store in the chain made 2.102×106 dollars in profit last year.

How many times greater is the profit made by the entire chain last year than by this particular store?

Drag and drop the values into the boxes to represent the answer in scientific notation
0.145 1.45 145 10^2 10^14 10^48

3.0479 / 2.102 = 1.45

10^8 / 10^6 = 10^2

answer is 1.45 * 10^2

We have been given that a popular chain of superstores made
3.0479\text{x}10^(8) dollars in profit last year. Also, we know that one particular store in the chain made
2.102\text{x}10^(6) dollars in profit last year.

Now, in order to figure out how many times greater is the profit made by the entire chain last year than by this particular store, we will divide the profit made by the entire chain by the profit made by the given particular store.

\frac{3.0479\text{x}10^(8)}{2.102\text{x}10^(6)}=(3.0479)/(2.102)\text{x}10^(8-6)=1.45\text{x}10^(2)

Therefore, the required answer is:
1.45\text{x}10^(2)
