Hat is the equation in point-slope form of the line passing through (2, 5) and (−1, 8)?

First, solve for slope.
Formula for slope:
(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Plug in values:
(8-5)/(1-2) = -(3)/(1) = -3
Slope:
-3
Second, we must plug into point-slope form.
Formula for point-slope:
y -y1 = m(x-x1)
Plug in the values:
y - 5 = -3(x - 2)

And there you have your answer in point-slope form.
