Hello Jazminhynes, the Ancient Egyptians believed they were assuring themselves a successful rebirth into the afterlife. The Ancient Egyptians believed that there were six important features that made up a human being: the physical body, shadow, name, spirit, personality, and the immortality.

They practiced it so when they would die the others would know how to process and stuff the body
