EG is the whole thing.
This means that EF + FG = EG
EF=2x-5
FG=3x-6
EG=19
Now all you do is plug in the numbers.
(2x - 5) + (3x - 6) = 19
5x - 11 = 19
5x = 30
x = 6
Now plug that x into EF and FG.
EF = 2x - 5
EF = 2(6) - 5
EF = 12 - 5
EF = 7
FG = 3x - 6
FG = 3(6) - 6
FG = 18 - 6
FG = 12
So your answers are:
x = 6
EF = 7
FG = 12
d. x = 6, EF = 7, FG = 12
