Protein synthesis in the cell occurs in two basic steps, transcription and translation. Transcription involves encoding the genetic information in the DNA into the mRNA. This process occur inside the nucleus and after the process, the mRNA will move out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm where it bound withe the ribosomes.
During the translation stage, the mRNA works together with ribosomes and tRNA to produce protein. Ribosome has three important binding sites, one for mRNA and two for tRNA. Once the mRNA is bound, the two tRNA molecules with their associated amino acids bound to the ribosome in a sequence that is determined by the mRNA. The protein synthesis is initiated by the formation of the start codon and the protein formed continue to elongate until the stop codon is encountered.
