Answer:

The Olmec civilization was located in Mexico. They existed between 1200BC to 400BC. They are considered to be the forerunner of all other Mesoamerican cultures and civilizations(Maya, Aztecs). Their heartland was a gulf of Mexico and influenced the trade activity. By 1200 BCE they had reached Nicaragua. Other features of the Olmec culture included animal gods, chocolate drinking, Huge stone sculpture, and sacred complexes. The name Olmec was given to them by the Aztecs. their ethnic origin is still unknown. The codification of their religious practices by using symbols and pyramids testifies to their technological advancement. They also created the first version of the calendar and also knew how to create rubber from the latex.
