The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 1 cm longer than the longer leg. the shorter leg is 17 cm shorter than the longer leg. find the length of the longer leg of the triangle.

(L+1) whole square= L square+(L-17)whole square

When you expand the above equation,you get

L square-36L+288=0
(L-24)(L-12)=0
L= 12 or 24
