The private benefit from consuming (buying, watering, caring for) the flowers will be different from the social benefit that comes from consuming the flowers. In this case, it could be the enjoyment experienced by people who come over to the person's house who purchased the plants: they are a third-party who were not directly involved in the plant-purchasing transaction.
