The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act was signed into law by president Ronald Regan, and it is designed to extend health insurance benefits after termination of a certain individual. This act is commonly referred to as COBRA and has some discrepancies with the year it was actually enacted verses the year it was drafted.
