4x-8y=24
move variables to the right side and change its sign
4x=24+8y
divide both sides by 4
x=6+2y

4x-8y=24
move variable to the right and change the sign
-8y=24-4x
divide both sides by -8
y=-3+1/2x

the x intercept is the value of x when y=0
the y intercept is the value of y when x=0
when y=0: 4x-0=24 => x=4
when x=0: 0-8y=24 => y=-3
so the x intercept is 4, and the y intercept is -3
