Substitute the top equation in as X in the 2nd equation.
2(3y-1)+y=12
Simplify to:
6y-2+y=12
7y-2=12
Add 2 to both sides
7y=14
Divide 7 from both sides
y=2
Find X by substituting y in the first equation
X=3(2)-1
X=6-1
X=5
x=5 y=2
