complementary angles add up to 90°, therefore, let's say the angles are "a" and "b".

so the sum of "a" plus " 5 times its complement", that is 5 times "b" is 298, so a + 5b = 298.

now, if a + b = 90, that means b = 90 - a.

therefore

\bf a+5b=298\implies a+5(90-a)=298\implies a+450-5a=298 \\\\\\ -4a=-152\implies a=\cfrac{-152}{-4}\implies a=38
