She can make 14 pies total. Because if you divide 118 by 8 you get 4.75 but with the problem you are working with you can't round up so 14 would be the max number of pies you can make and you will have a few apples left over (the .75 left)

Tha answer is 15 apple pies. Divide 118 pies by 8 apples. You will get 14 and a remainder. Add one more to the quotient.
