solve for x by simplifying both sides of the equation than isolating the variable
x=9/4 + k/4

Hey Johna!
4x - 9 = k
Add 9 to both sides
4x - 9 + 9 = k + 9
4x = k + 9
Divide both sides by 4
4x/4 = (k + 9)/4
x = (k + 9)/4
