Black infants have a higher rate of lower birth rates and preterm births as opposed to White and Hispanic infants. This places pressure on low-income families due to the need for healthcare including NICU stays and extra health check-ups. There are also long-lasting effects associated with being a preterm babies, and this includes ear problems, lower IQs, and chronic illnesses. This provides strains on families and communities.
