We are given the formula for the volume of a rectangular box

V=\text{lwh}

Writing the formula in terms of w

We will divide both sides by lh

This gives

\begin{gathered} (V)/(lh)=\frac{\text{lwh}}{lh} \\ w=(V)/(lh) \end{gathered}

We are given

V=120\operatorname{cm},l=3\operatorname{cm},h=5\operatorname{cm}

We are to find the width

Using the formula and substituting values we have

\begin{gathered} w=\frac{120\operatorname{cm}}{3\operatorname{cm}*5\operatorname{cm}} \\ w=\frac{120\operatorname{cm}}{15\operatorname{cm}^2} \\ w=8\operatorname{cm} \end{gathered}

Therefore, the width is 8 cm
