A sheet of plywood was made by gluing 7 sheets of wood together.

2 of the sheets were 0.0625 inch thick and the rest were 0.125 inch thick.
how thick was the plywood?

We can use the equation y=2(0.0625)+5(0.125), y being the thickness of the plywood.
I got 5(0.125) because two sheets of the 7 were already used, meaning there are 5 sheets of plywood left over.
y=0.125+0.625
y=0.75
Therefore, the plywood is 0.75 inches thick.
