Choose the correct simplification of the expression (−2x + 10y)(4x − 6y).

−8x2 − 52xy + 60y2
−8x2 + 52xy − 60y2
8x2 + 52xy − 60y2
−8x2 + 28xy − 60y2

(-2x + 10y)(4x - 6y)

Use FOIL.

-2x*4x = -8x^2
10y*-6y = -60y^2
10y*4x = 40xy
-2x*-6y = 12xy

Combine the like terms (the ones that have been bolded).
40xy + 12xy = 52xy

Put all the variables together.
−8x^2 + 52xy − 60y^2

(-2x + 10y)(4x - 6y) =
-2x(4x - 6y) + 10y(4x - 6y) =
-8x^2 + 12xy + 40xy - 60y^2 =
-8x^2 + 52xy - 60y^2 <==
