Imagine a close friend is planning to go out and celebrate this weekend. You know your friend intends to drink and may experiment with drugs. You are not only concerned for her wellbeing but also worried that she might get behind the wheel and drive. Using the information you learned in module 8, write a paragraph persuading your friend to make safe choices. List at least three dangers she may face and two alternatives for her to safely and legally enjoy the celebration.

By being under the influence while driving you put yourself, anyone in your vehicle in any vehicle that you pass in danger. Depth perception is altered when you drink, you could get a DWI and an MIP. Instead of driving I can pick you up when you’re ready to go or you can take an Uber/lyft.

Your friend may face health risks, for example overdosing on drugs or mixing drugs and alcohol, she may harm herself if she gets behind the wheel, and she may harm others as well, for example if she gets into an accident. To safely and legally enjoy the celebration, she can choose to abstain from these substances and thus eliminate the risks. If not, she can at least have a designated driver who will pick her up at a specific time to safely bring her back home and cause no harm to others.
