Distribute: -3x -12+4x. You multiply the -3 by the inside number -3•x =-3x, -3•4=-12 leave the 4x alone because it is not in the parentheses. Now put all the common factors together such as -3x and 4x would equal X because “if the signs are different subtract and keep the larger” 4 is the highest and it is positive so subtract 3 from 4 which is 1x you can say X. -12 would Stay the same so the answer is X-12

-3(x + 4) + 4x....first we distribute the -3 thru the parenthesis....what that means is we want to multiply everything in the parenthesis by -3.

(-3 * x) + (-3 * 4) + 4x =
-3x + (-12) + 4x =
-3x - 12 + 4x .....now we combine like terms
(4x - 3x) - 12 =
x - 12 <==
