I believe this is a trial and error type of question.

1) 2x + y > 8

Plug in the coordinate.

2(3) + 2 > 8

6 + 2 > 8

8 > 8

This is not true because 8 is not greater than 8.

Acceptable answers would be:

8 = 8 or 8 ≥ 8

2) 2(-1) + 9 > 8

-2 + 9 > 8

7 > 8

False.

3) 2(5) + (-1) > 8

10 - 1 > 8

9 > 8

This statement is true, therefore, (5, -1) is a correct solution to the problem.

4) 2(4) + 3 > 8

8 + 3 > 8

11 > 8

This is also true since 11 is greater than 8. (4, 3) is another solution to the inequality.
