Hall's theory of adolescence states that it occurs between the ages of 13 and 24 and comprises a predetermined storm of biological changes that are universal for all young people. Mead's theory contradicts Hall's, as her research supported that the changes that come with adolescence are a result of the influences of the environment and civilization rather than biological predeterminism.
