Galileo affirmed that the sun was the center of the universe and was immovable. This way, he also said that the Earth was not the center of the universe and moved, which explained the reason for night and day.

Galileo’s ideas and arguments were totally against what the Church preached until that moment. The Catholic Church followed the Aristotelian geocentric view of the universe, that placed Earth as the center of the universe, which also complemented the idea that the Bible defended that the human being was the center of God’s universe.
