Just do a direct substitution.
Replace 'y' with '5x'
4x + 2(5x) = 7
4x + 10x = 7
14x = 7
x = 7/14 = 1/2
Sub into y=5x to find 'y'
y = 5(1/2) = 5/2 = 2.5
Answer:
x = 0.5, y = 2.5
