What evidence helped give strong support for the hypothesis of seafloor spreading at mid-ocean ridges?

Bands of magnetic rocks were discovered on either side of mid-oceanic ranges. Also, during earthquake activity, it was seen that the rocks near these fault lines were sinking at the trenches. Also, rocks found on mid-ocean ridges were seen to be younger than those found near deeper (and thereby older) trenches.
