2m + 4 m + 2
_____ ÷ _____
8 6

Use the same concept that is used when dividing fractions.
Multiply.

2m + 4 6 2 (m + 2) 6
_____ × _____ ----> ______ × ______
8 m + 2 8 m + 2

Cancel out the common factors. Then simplify the product.

2 (m +2) 6 2 6 2 (6)
______ × ______ ----> ____ × ____ ----> ____
8 m + 2 8 1 8

2 (6) 12
____ = ___
8 8

Simplify 12/8 by finding the GCF (greatest common factor) of 12 and 8

GCF of 12 and 8 is 4
12 ÷ 4 = 3
8 ÷ 4 = 2

So your answer is 3/2 which can be written as 1 ½ or 1.5 as a decimal.
