To use the equal values method, we want to get both of these equations equal to the same thing, and then set them equal to each other. To do this, let's solve both for x:
For the second equation:
Then if we set these two equal to each other:
Then we take this y value and plug it back into either of our starting equations. I'll use the first one as an example:
Now just solve for x and you'll have your solution.
