Answer:

she needs 1
(1)/(3) cup of strawberries

Explanation:

To find the number of cups needed, we will simply solve using proportion

From the question, Jade picked 1 cup of strawberries for 3/4 of a cake

and we are asked to find the number of cups needed for a whole cake

Let x be the number of cups needed for the whole cake

(3)/(4) cake = 1 cup of strawberries

1 cake = x

Cross multiply

(3)/(4) × x = 1 × 1

(3x)/(4) = 1

cross multiply

3x =4

To get the value of x, we simply divide both-side of the equation by 3

(3x)/(3) =
(4)/(3)

(On the left-hand side of the equation, 3 will cancel out 3 leaving us with x and on the right-hand side of the equation 4 will be divided by 3 which will give us 1
(1)/(3) )

x = 1
(1)/(3)

Therefore 1
(1)/(3) cup of strawberries is needed for the whole cake.
