Actually, the correct choice would be A. "....the battle's only survivor/swam up and away from those silent corpses...".

I just took the whole unit test, C. Was wrong.

The correct answer to the question is a. “.... The battles only survivor/swam and away from those silent corpses....”

In the battle scene Beowulf goes underwater to fight Grendel`s mother. He defeats her and cuts off her head. The line refers to corpses because in the cave there is Grendel`s body as well as his mother dragged it their to moan.
