The density of the metal is much greater than that of the wood, in which the wood would float and the metal would sink

Answer:

The molecules in the metal are closer than the molecules of the wood. The metal is more compact.

Step-by-step explanation:

Density is characteristic property of the substance. Density is the relationship between the mass of the substance with the volume. Metallic bonds are collectively formed It hold molecule together and is high in density. Whereas the wood has molecules which are dispersed.

This makes the metals sink in water than the same size wood. Molecules which are bind together are directly correlated with density, which is high. Metal has high density than wood.
