If Mr. Welch bought 24 ft. of fencing and 1 yd. is equal to 3 ft., then what we would do is divide 24 by 3 which equals 8. Therefore, he bought 8 yd. of fencing.

divide 24 feet by 3 feet to get yards
24 / 3 =
8 yards
