Question

I brought 1 1/4 lbs of grapes. 2 1/2 lbs of cherries and 2lbs of bananas. How much total pounds of fruit did i buy?

1 + 2 + 2 = 5

1/4 + 1/2

1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4

The answer will be 5 3/4

1 + 2 + 2 = 5
Now, add the fractions together:
1/4 = 2/8
1/2 = 4/8
