First, add the whole numbers together:
1 + 2 + 2 = 5
Now, add the fractions together:
1/4 = 2/8
1/2 = 4/8
2/8 + 4/8 = 6/8 or 3/4
Add your two amounts together to get:
5 3/4 lbs of fruit
Hope this helps!! :)
