The ir spectrum or the infrared spectrum is a plot of the percentage transmittance of radiation versus the decreasing frequency of radiation expressed as a wave number. Alcohols typically register frequencies of 3000-3700 cm-1 for the O-H functional group and 900-1300 for the C-O functional group.
