Plates refer to crustal plates that are giant slabs of rock that make up the earth's crust. The Pacific plate is the largest tectonic plate but it is surrounded by smaller tectonic plates that underlie the Pacific Ocean. Plates that are under the Pacific Ocean include : the Pacific plate, the Nazca Plate, The Cocos Plate, The Juan de Fuca plate, the Philippine Plate and a part of the Indo-Australian Plate.
