Subtract 8x from both sides.

y = -8x + 11

-8 is in the "m" spot. Remember, m=slope :)

So, our slope is -8.

Remember, if 2 lines are parallel to one another, then they have the same slope.

So, the parallel slope of -8 is -8.

However, if 2 lines are perpendicular from one another, they have negative reciprocal slopes :)
