What are some of the difficulties in trying to understand someone from a different culture?

I believe the most difficult thing in trying to understand someone’s culture is the misinterpretation of things that are considered beautiful in other walks of life. For example, a great amount of people believe that culture that isn’t westernized is primitive and aesthetically unappealing.
