Will the standard form of 8.5 × 10–3 be more or less than 1? Explain what effect the negative exponent has.

It would be less than one. Because, 8.5 * 10^-3 equals 0.0085.
It would be less than 1.

Hello There!

If you change that into normal numbers you get:
0.0085.
The negative exponent makes the number smaller.
It will be less than 1.
