x=2y+6.

First, insert 2 in place of x. The equation would be 3*2 + 6y=18
Now, you want to get y alone.
3*2= 6
6+6y=18
Next, you want to subtract 6 from both sides. Leaving you with,
6y=12
Divide both sides by 6 and you will be left with...
y=2
