Perception is defined as the sequence of steps that are initiated with the reception of stimulus from the environment and ends with the interpretation. In other words, it is the interpretation for the sensory information. It is related to stimuli from the environment and the response produced for it by the individual.

One's negative experience can lead an individual to create stereotypes is not in regard of forming perception. Stereotype corresponds to a set of ideas that a person possesses ( like about a group of people) about something, usually in a negative direction. Whereas, a perception can be created in a positive as well as negative way.
