Quincy's condition, wherein she can remember her life up to the time she was struck on the head but can no longer make new memories, is called anterogade amnesia. It remains a mysterious ailment because the precise mechanism of storing memories is not yet well understood; what has been known are the regions involved which include sites in the temporal cortex, especially in the hippocampus and nearby subcortical regions.
