Answer: 4 atoms

Explanation: Since carbon atom valency is 4 hence it forms 4 bonds with other 4 atoms.

As we know that carbon has atomic number-6 and electronic configuration 1s2 2s2 2p2

And it has 4 electrons in outer shell. These 4 electrons forms bind with other atoms.
