To find the y-intercept, substitute 0 in for x, as where the x value equals 0, the graph is intersecting the y-axis.
y=(1/4)(0)-2
y= -2

To find the x-intercept, substitute 0 in for y, as where the y value equals 0, the graph is intersecting the x-axis.
0=1/4x-2
2=1/4x
x=8

Plot the intercepts on the axes, then draw a straight line from one to the other to graph the equation.
