Solve 8x − 2(x + 1) = 7x + 8. (5 points)

-10 is the answer (pretty sure) when you cancel everything out and combine all terms you're left with 6x-10 = 7x subtract 6x from both sides and get -10 = 1x, divide -10 by 1 and you end up with -10 = x
