its just a matter of subbing to see if it is true

y = -2x - 1
(-6,2)...x = -6 and y = 2
sub
2 = -2(-6) - 1
2 = 12 - 1
2 = 11....nope....it is not a solution

y-y1= m(x-x1)

y-2= -2(x+6)

y-2= -2x-12

y= -2x-10
Unless there is supposed to be a zero at the end of that 1, then the answer is no
