Febrile seizure most commonly occurs in infants of 6 months of age to toddlers till 5 years old. It is characterized by fever that in most of the cases are harmless. The occurrence of fever more than 102 degree Fahrenheit may lead to febrile seizure. Febrile seizure occurs during the first 24 hrs of high fever. These are convulsions that occurs when the child is suffering from high fever and may last for more than 15 minutes. The convulsions may involve shaking and twitching, rolling eyes and unconsciousness.
If a child had febrile seizure in the first year of life, he/she can have it again. It also depends on the parent's history of having febrile seizure.
