2h + 2s = 4
3h + s = 4.5....multiply by -2
----------------
2h + 2s = 4
-6h - 2s = - 9 (result of multiplying by -2)
---------------
-4h = - 5
h = -5/-4
h = 1.25 <== each hot dog costs $ 1.25

3h + s = 4.5
3(1.25) + s = 4.5
3.75 + s = 4.5
s = 4.5 - 3.75
s = 0.75 <== each soda costs 0.75
