Surface area of a cylinder with a diameter of 14 and height is 9

The radius is 7 if the diam. is 14. We can find the surface area (without top or bottom areas) by finding the circumference of the base and then multiplying it by the height:

C=pi*d = pi(14); height = 9. Then the surface area of the side(s) is 14(pi)(9).

If you wish to include the areas of the top and bottom of the cylinder, add
2(pi)r^2 = 2(pi)(7)^2.
